KL’s Award-Winning Bird Park

From friendly parrots to strutting peacocks, most birds fly and wander freely around KL Bird Park, letting visitors observe their daily antics. This is the largest bird park in the world to have this concept of ‘free flight’, and where 800 birds of 60 species are found.

The park is divided into four zones and several sections: Brahminy Land, Hornbill Park, World of Parrots, Oriental Birds Aviaries, Flamingo Pond and Flightless Birds. There is a nursery, where there is an incubator for young chicks and ducklings, so visitors go back to school to learn what goes on in an egg before it hatches. Visitors will also enjoy observing many unique species, such as the Rhinoceros Hornbill, one of the largest hornbills in the world, and the Great White Pelican, the second largest pelican in the world.

Internationally-acclaimed, even Bill Clinton paid the KL Bird Park a visit in 2008. Local celebrities include Chef Wan, and television programmes often feature the aviary.

Grand Dorsett Labuan had an opportunity to share the harmonious Ramadan month with the less fortunate and show appreciation to all their Muslim clients last month. We broke our Ramadan fast together with 140 guests at our Labuan Ballroom.

Orphans and special children from Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Mutiara and Jalan Tenaga, Persatuan Bagi Orang Orang Istimewa Labuan, Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Quran and Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat as well as clients from both the government and corporate sectors attended the function.

This annual event has been the hotel’s tradition for many years. Towards the end of the function, General Manager Hubert Wilfred gave away a bag of goodies and Duit Raya to all the children.
